Beeswax Wrap

Konnichi Wa Everybody!

Did you know that there is a lot of plastic in the world? In our class we have been learning about plastic that is in the sea and sea creatures eating them. While we were learning about plastic our teacher got us materials to make a beeswax wrap. A beeswax wrap is a reusable cloth that you can use for your sandwich instead of using glad wrap.

It is good for you to use because there is so much plastic that we use and that plastic has flew away into the sea which causes sea creatures to think that is food and die from it.

Now I present to you the instructions for the beeswax wrap and a photo...

You will need:

  • 100% cotton (fabric)
  • Pinking shears
  • Beeswax pellets
  • Baking paper
  • Iron
  • Old towel
  • Cardboard (optional)

Method:
  1. Choose a fabric that is 100% cotton.
  2. Cut the cloth by using pinking shears into a square (30cm by 30cm)
  3. Sprinkle a handful of beeswax pellets onto your cloth (make sure you have 2 layers of baking paper at the bottom of your cloth).
  4. Grab another layer of baking paper and put it on top of your cloth.
  5. Iron your cloth until all the beeswax pellets are melted.
  6. Remove the baking paper from the cloth.
  7. Peel your cloth off from the baking paper.
  8. Wave it until it is dry.

Would you try this out?
See you guys next time, Goodbye!
