A Sad Story

Last week there was a sick sea turtle and it was found at Ninety Mile Beach. It was flown to the Auckland Zoo Vet Hospital so the vet could make it better.

The turtle was covered in green moss and barnacles which are small shells. It was also sun burnt. The vet took x-rays and blood test and tried to make the turtle nice and warm. After two days the turtle past away. The vet found two pieces of plastic inside it's body and a long piece of twine.

People need to get rid of plastic in the ocean and reuse plastic water bottles and other materials. Please do not keep throwing plastic bags because sea animals might get sick if they eat them just this turtles.

Here is a video of the turtle.

See you next time Bye.

  1. Hi Gloria,

What a beautiful piece of writing - I hope you're super proud of yourself. It's really sad that the turtle passed away and even more upsetting that it's because of all the plastic we have been dumping in the ocean.

Could we do anything else apart from throwing plastic in the rubbish bin?
